I viewed the session “The Classroom Social Network: It’s not just Fun, It’s Fundamental to Modern Learning“, and found this very interesting, as we at the American School of Bombay (ASB) think on similar lines.
The presenter Adrianne Stone says that she was a regular user of Ning as a social networking platform to engage with students to make the teaching and learning experience more fun. When Ning discontinued free accounts and started charging, she moved to another platform called Grouply.
We at ASB believe in the same concept as what Adrianne Stone speaks about. She believes that students will learn better in an environment where they are most comfortable. So engaging students on a social networking platform is the best bet.
I personally did learn about Grouply, a similar platform like Ning. We had been looking for a tool to replace the Ning for quite some time now. I will introduce this tool to my school after trying it out myself.
Viewing this online session was a absolute value for the time I spent on this entire course. Thanks Adrianne!
